After experiencing the isolation many families with children with autism feel and the challenges of accessing mainstream/public areas, Lisa Donoghue set up OJ’s care. On a mission to provide a range of activities for children and young adults with autism, learning difficulties, and additional needs, Lisa and her team are committed to supporting families and carers throughout Lancashire.
Challenge
“Initially, we approached Beyond Profit to help us complete our year-end accounts and independent examination, as these had fallen behind.
We needed someone to pick these up quickly, make sense of the copious amounts of paperwork, ensure we met our financial legal obligations (account submissions), and provide us with clear financial information and records.”
The Solution
The Beyond Profit team stepped straight in:
- Producing clear and concise year-end accounts (that are produced and submitted on time)
- Carrying out and providing independent examination, detailing financial outcomes and the current financial position of OJ’s. (Our team has now moved away from carrying out independent examinations for OJ’s Care as we became their trusted bookkeeping and outsourced accountancy team.)
- Reducing the workload and the backlog of paperwork and bookkeeping tasks
- Providing a listening ear and acting as a sounding board for Management team members.
The Impact
Due to the positive impact, ability to maintain deadlines, and the weight lifted off the team at OJ’s shoulders, Beyond Profit now supports OJs Care with ongoing bookkeeping, payroll, statutory accounts, and TAR with future plans to work on CIO setup and Trustee training.
This has freed up considerable time for the OJ team, allowing them to focus on other core areas of the charity and ultimately provide more amazing services for their users.
